Mermaid 2 - Hin Daeng Liveaboard Thailand

From November 2008 to April 2009

Built in 2000 the Mermaid 2 has been operating as a liveaboard for 8 years. At 33 metres in length and 7 metres in beam she can comfortably carry up to a maximum of 20 guests. Over the years constant revisions and improvements have been made and she is now one of the most comfortable and diver friendly liveaboards in Thailand.

Onboard Interior

The air-conditioned saloon is large and spacious with lounge suites and big windows. Facilities in the lounge include bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities, TV/DVD, music center, library and a full selection of marine life books.

The dining room is located on the main deck where delicious freshly cooked Thai and western meals are served buffet style. There are also two outside decks. The party deck has a combination of lounge chairs and cushioned sun chairs all in a covered shaded area. The sundeck is located in front of the wheelhouse and has cushioned sun chairs for those who wish to soak up some rays!

Cabins

The Mermaid 2 contains 10 cabins in all: 8 deluxe cabins and 2 standard cabins. All cabins are air-conditioned twin cabins offering en-suite with hot water showers (standard cabins have shared bathroom). Also provided are in-cabin sink, camera charging outlet, storage space and wardrobe. Also provided are bathrobes, hair-dryers, towels, soap and shampoo for your comfort. Additionally deluxe cabins offer a large panoramic window.

The Dive Deck

The dive deck is a large spacious area with plenty of room for everybody to gear up in comfort. Individual boxes are provided for you to stow your gear plus there is a camera table and various rinse tanks. Tanks are filled in between dives meaning that you set up at the beginning of the trip and then leave the rest to the staff. 15 litre tanks and enriched air (Nitrox) are available for rent.

Either the two dinghies will transfer you to the dive sites or entry will be off the dive platform. Most pick-ups are made by the dinghy for your convenience.

Dive briefings are preformed by the tour leader prior to every dive. All briefings are thorough including a map of each site and explanations on what you are likely to encounter on the dive professional dive guides are provided although you can choose to dive just with your buddy if you so desire.
