MV Pawara

Thailand Liveaboards

MV Pawara Similans Liveaboard

Built in 2006, the MV Pawara is one of the best designed Thailand liveaboards operating to the Similan islands. At 32 metres long and 7 metres in beam she comfortably holds a maximum of 26 guests.

The one thing that makes Pawara really stand out is the thought that has gone into the general design and decor of the whole liveaboard giving a modern yet Thai-style feel all around. With her superb modern design including a massive luxury lounge area she really stands out in comparison with other liveaboard options. She was also completely refurbished in 2012 vastly improving the already excellent decor and facilities.

**Book early to avoid disappointment. Free Nitrox!**

The Cabins

MV Pawara contains 13 cabins in total. All cabins have individually controlled air-conditioning and are all en suite with private toilet and shower except the budget cabins. There is plenty of storage space - cupboards, wardrobes and even storage areas under the beds. A safe box is also provided to store your valuables.

MV Pawara- Master cabin

The two master cabins on the main deck are the most spacious of all. Located at the bow of the boat each of the two master cabins consists of either twin beds or one double (you choose) with panoramic windows. Rooms are ensuite with private air-conditioning. These rooms are very popular so book early to avoid disappointment.

MV Pawara- Deluxe cabin

The four deluxe cabins on the main deck consist of twin bunk beds. They are smaller than the Master cabins but still very comfortable with large windows and lots of natural light. Rooms are ensuite with private air-conditioning.

MV Pawara- Standard cabin

The four standard cabins on the lower deck are large with twin beds or one double (you choose). Despite being on the lower deck all the standard cabins have portholes allowing natural light to enter the room. Rooms are ensuite with private air-conditioning.

MV Pawara- Budget cabin

The three budget cabins on the lower deck are a smallish room with twin beds. The toilet/shower facilities are separate to the room itself although very close by.

The Boat Layout

MV Pawara- dining area

On the upper deck is a large, comfortable open air dining area where all meals are served. Tea, coffee water and fruit juices are readily available in this area throughout the trip with staff on hand to help with any requests. The outside dining area is a great place for enjoying the fresh air and the glorious views of the Andaman sea.

MV Pawara - lounge area

Also on the upper deck is the spacious air-conditioned lounge area with extremely comfortable sofas, 40 inch LCD TV and DVD player. There are also a number of desks with power points specifically designed for the use of laptops. This is the perfect place for viewing and editing your dive photos and videos. Finally there is the sundeck, the uppermost deck on Pawara. At 70 square metres in size you could probably have a game of football on it although most of the time would be spent retrieving the ball from the sea!

MV Pawara - dive deck

MV Pawara boasts a large dive deck with plenty of space for everyone. As with everything on this liveaboard a lot of thought has gone into the design with places for storing equipment, hanging wetsuits and placing fins. Dives are generally from one of the two dinghies although sometimes directly from the dive deck too.

Similan & Surin Park Fees

To help with the costs of reef protection and regeneration schemes, the Thai government has introduced a national park entry fee for all visitors to the Similans and Surin islands of 500 baht entry per person plus an additional 200 baht per diver per day. Please note that the Similans Islands and Surin Islands are different national parks so an entry fee will be required for each park and each time you enter. For the 4 day/4 night trip including Richeieu Rock you enter the Similans Park twice and the Surin park once. Park fees would currently be as follows:

  • 4 day/4 night (diver): 2,300 baht
  • 4 day/4 night (non-diver): 1,500 baht

This fee is in addition to the price of any liveaboard trip. The fee will be payable in cash (Thai Baht) direct to the boat tour leader on the day of the trip.

Disclaimer: As this is a government fee, we take no responsibility for any changes.
